In the 1.5 release there was a way for certain people to gain access the the admin panel using the “admin” username. Its now been updated and there is no / little risk now and its been fixed but you need to ensure you have the latest version at all times.
I had a site hacked but lucky I had another admin account so I could login using that and re-change the admin password.
Not sure how they hacked it though, probably sql injection of some sort.
