Where Can I Find Joomla Resources For Beginners?
February 1, 2010 under FAQ
Joomla is great for beginners as it is designded to simplify rather complex sites such as for social network communities and e-commerce! Used ‘as is’ Joomla runs (without plugins) a community (ie multi user) magazine/blog-style website.
Installation is easy if you follow the instructions on the Joomla website - they also have tutorials for version 1.0.XX and are preparing the userguide for version 1.5 at this moment:http://help.joomla.org
You and your users then feed in the articles to read, items to sell, etc. You as administrator control who has access and who can create articles / items.
You can create and edit the templates as you wish and install plugins to enhance your site. They are just text files, editable with Notepad (Google “Notepad+” for an enhanced version, better for editing website files).
A great site for ‘empty’ basic templates is Compass Designs:http://www.compassdesigns.net
and for superb tutorials:http://www.compassdesigns.net/tutorials/…
Also try out:http://tutorials.rockettheme.com
Good luck!
