   It’s a fairly sophisticated content management system. Once installed on your web host, you can then use it to create, design, and publish your site without the need to know HTML or any website coding.

   Joomla is a “web design IDE” for people who do not know how to code.
   You charge 26Mb of code on your website, to allow your client to have something like “dreamweaver” available, with drag and drop facility, so, without knowing how to program, they can change their website contents.
   Since it is obviously “visible” to any savvy visitor, Joomla makes your site an “amateur” site.
   At your peril.
   Even knowing Joomla very well, you will STILL have to be a proper coder to use it and adapt it to your needs. So, why waste your time?

   Joomla is a Content Management System.
   It is used to rapidly deploy a web site.
   Features would be some of the following:
   Allows building content by multiple authors, directly via a web browser
   Manages user registration and logons
   Manages banners and advertising
   Handles polls
   Search site functions
   Manage media.
   Additional capabilities can be added via modules and extensions, like forums and shopping carts.
   I am working in Joomla now, trying to get a feel for it. I had been trying Drupal before, another CMS.
   Both Joomla and Drupal come in an archive that you unzip to your web server. An apache server would greatly simply things, but otherwise you need PHP5 and MYSQL running on the web server in oder to use Joomla or Drupal.
