I think customised CMS’s can be better that the above. These CMS systems, while they make an allowance for SEO, I don’t think they go far enough. I find we always have to augment them which smarter tracking systems, smarter content delivery and content suggestion systems than are available.
Angela Q is right, there are so many plugins out there that will help you make your website SE friendly, I think it’s more of a matter of preference. While I wouldn’t consider WordPress a true CMS, I have used it for many SEO customers in the past with no issues.
If you do use WP though, make sure you do a search on the duplicate content issues and how to fix them.
