Should I Use Wordpress Or Joomla?

August 17, 2009 under FAQ

I’m starting a website and need to decide between WordPress or Joomla. The content will concentrate on downloadable PDFs, blog-style news updates, and a forum. Any thoughts on which I should use? Thanks!

Go with wordpress, it’s simple to use and their documentation is easy to understand. You can create free wordpress account and test for yourself at: http://wordpress.com

i think both are good, but i prefer wordpress, because most search engines bots prefer blogs…

Joomla is to Web CMS’s what Linux is to Operating systems.
It has a steeper learning curve than Wordpress, but it also is much more customizable and extensible from within itself (bearing in mind that since both are open source, the level of customization is really as high as you want it to be).
Wordpress is much easier for a user to get moving with. There is far less to learn, and it is much more intuitive.
Me, I prefer Joomla. WordPress is ideal for a blog, though. If I were to start a blog, it’d be in WordPress. But for general sites that are not blog-centric, I like the things I can do with Joomla. Joomla is also a bit better equipped to handle large community sites with a spread out admin staff.
