Nvu Or Joomla?
February 23, 2010 under FAQ
Hi! I created my website shemodesty.com using NVU. I just heard about Joomla and I am wondering if I should use that instead to build my site. I also would like to add a blog to my website and I have no clue how to do this using NVU.
Is Joomla easier and should I switch? Also, where do I start with learning about Joomla? Thanks so much for any help! :)

Apples and Oranges.
NVU is a web authoring system. It competes with MS FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc. It allows free-form building of web pages.
Joomla is a CMS - Content Management System. It’s used to build an organized, structured full-featured website rapidly.
Here are two analogies I can think of:
NVU: tree Joomla: forest
NVU: artist canvas with paints and brush
Joomla: paint-by-numbers
I’ve used FrontPage and Joomla. For building a website, you’ll be 10X more productive with Joomla — all the hard work is done for you. You can get a free or cheap template and spend your time building content. For NVU, I’m sure it’s all hard work.

I took a quick look at Shemodesty.com. Since it’s going to be a commerce website, I’d suggest looking into Drupal instead of Joomla — it’s more powerful, flexible, but will require a greater investment of time.
With any CMS, you will still need a quick & dirty HTML editor. You might try Windows Live Writer a try. I love it.
Good luck.
