Im curious to know a couple of things since im new to joomla.
My developer said I had a virus on my page so it brought down my page little did he know that I have 2 other joomla website on the same server and those where not affected. all other joomla website that he had FTP accounts had the virus..long story short I cut his FTP accoutns and I would like to change the MySQL password on the page.. I got the website up and running but I CANNOT DAMAGE THE PAGE… :?
Its a joomla shooping cart and its currently working…
so how do I change the MySql Password in joomla with out Re-installing..?
Question 2
I need to protect my self.. how or where do I find the updated for joomla? i know its in the Security forums but how do i know which ones I need? I currently have 1.0 joomla and im scared to upgrade to 1.5 thinking my joomla script would go down.. can some one guide me on making my website very secure with joomla security updates?

For the first question, it’s a two step process. First, change the password for the database user using your control panel software. Then open configuration.php and change the value.
For the second question, you really should be looking at migrating to 1.5. It’s not normally a simple process, but 1.0 is no longer maintained, and you really are leaving your site open to hackers. Security should be a priority over ease. I know http://www.buyhttp.com offers migrations services from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 for a fee.
If you want to take a stab at it yourself the official documentation can be found at http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1.0.x_to_1.5_Stable
