Joomla Help!!!!! Easy Question?

February 20, 2010 under FAQ

I have a website called MetinAction.org and to see the joomla side of it, I have to go to www.metinaction.org/joomla, I want to ask how do I set it up so that joomla is my metinaction.org and not metinaction.org/joomla?? Right now I have it set up as a redirection so when you go to metinaction.org it sends you to metinaciton.org/joomla, but I also want to hide the “joomla” part!! Somebody please help of if you know where I can find the help please Give in Please!

You have installed Joomla in a subdirectory of the root.
Your publically accessible ‘webspace’ folder is typically called something like http, httpdocs or htdocs. Ask your web-hosting provider.
If you install an index.html file in this folder it will be the first webpage brought up when visiting your website.
So install Joomla so that the index.php which generates the html thats subsitutes for a static webpage is situated in that root and not in a subfolder.
This is step 3 on page 27 in the Joomla 1.0.XX user manual or here on the online installation guide:http://help.joomla.org/content/view/39/1…
For Joomla 1.5 it is on this page of the online instalation manual:http://help.joomla.org/content/view/1947…
You can change the location of your instalation. You backup, then move the files to the root, delete the old subfolder, edit the configuration.php and then hope for the best… and read read read the forums for advice :-)
So the easiest may be to reinstall Joomla to the root. Or you can hunt the net for redirection which can be achieved by using the .htaccess file in the root - it ain’t that hard - but I suggest a reinstall for later ease of use.
    All the best.
    Mike
