    Joomla is Content Management System which is designed for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP stack.
    I think you are trying to install Joomla on Windows Desktop, if that is the case
    If you want to install the manual way:
    1. Install Apache Web Server
    2. Install MySQL Database
    3. Install PHP
    4. Configure PHP to work with Apache
    5. Create the Database and put your Joomla in Apache htdocs directory and install it.
    Now there is an easy way to do this without going through this painful process.
    It is done by installing a WAMP Server which stands for Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP.
    You download the latest WAMP Server from the net and install it. It is just an executable which installs without any major pain. It typically installs and if you do not touch any other configuration parameters it will be running on localhost:80
    You can access the webserver from the browser at the url localhost
    Once you install this you unzip your Joomla Stable version in www directory of the WAMP Server
    Now the browser list this joomla directory and you can proceed installing Joomla.
