January 18, 2010 under FAQ
I am developing a cashback website using joomla and I need to keep track of registered members who make a purchase. Can it be done with the existing joomla settings or do I need something else?

If you want to keep track of their purchases, you can easily do so with whatever e-commerce extension that you’re using. Is it VirtueMart? You need to review that Component in your admin panel and you should be able to find a list of purchases and other goodies for you. If you don’t have something for purchases yet, I recommend VirtueMart (http://virtuemart.net).
*Follow-up: Are you using anything Joomla related to actually gather the affiliate info right now? If not, it seems like you will have to manually enter the info for each user. It’s really hard to say without knowing how you’re collecting the information in the first place. But, it sounds like you’re going to have to depend on your own custom system, which would be better anyway. If you don’t know much about php, the most simple way would be to create a table in phpmyadmin with the fields that you want. Then, enter each user’s stats in the table. The final step would be to display the information on the website using php and a database connection. You can insert that page into a “Static page” in your joomla admin panel.
