If you wish to optimize or change in someway something on your template you will need to check on your CSS or HTML I don’t know for other way. But hey this is not so hard you just need to read about it little more and you will catch it in no time.
I don’t think it is possible to edit the template from the Joomla console without specifying CSS or HTML. The heart of a Joomla template is the CSS so you would need to edit it via the CSS.
You can edit the template in the console but you need to know at least some HTML or CSS.
