Does Joomla Run On The Dot-net Platform?
January 31, 2010 under FAQ
I know Joomla run on Linux but can it also be used in a dot-Net environment? The servers I want to run it on are Microsoft-based (please no flames). Thanks!

Joomla was developed using PHP not .NET.
However it can run on in a Microsoft Windows environment if that’s what you mean. It does not need the .NET framework to be installed so that it runs on a Microsoft OS.
I’m pretty sure it can as long as you have required things (PHP, MYSQL etc.) Hope I helped - Colin
Joomla will absolutely run on Windows (as mentioned by the previous posters).
The .NET framework is collection of libraries that extends the functionality of IIS, the Windows web server software.
Joomla can run in IIS but it will not utilise the .NET framework.
You will need to install &configure PHP to run with IIS to get Joomla to work correctly, as detailed here:http://www.php.net/install.windows
You will also need to install MySQL on your Windows machine, though this is fairly easy.
A good FAQ is on the Joomla website which should get you started:http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,…
