Beginner Needs Help With Joomla 1.5?
I am thinking of getting Joomla 1.5 to build a catalog website. Is there an extension that will allow me to make an online catalog. The closest I can find is VirtueMart. Does anyone know of an alternative? Thank you.

yeah Virtuemart would be your best option. It has a catalog mode where it just displays your products with out any payment gateway/ method. Plus if you ever wanted to sell them, it’s just a click to change.
The base themes that Virtuemart come with are a bit rough, so if you don’t feel like playing around with the stylesheets head on over to poweredbyvirtuemart.com. They have a bunch of nice, clean looking themes to style your catalog for you.
